View DWG and DXF files online, free
DWG Viewer Online opens AutoCAD drawings and 3D models directly in your browser. There is nothing to install, no account to create, and no upload step — the file is read from your device by the browser itself and never sent anywhere. That makes it usable for drawings covered by an NDA or client confidentiality, where uploading to a third-party server is not an option.
It is a viewer, not an editor. You can open, inspect, measure, mark up and export a drawing, but you cannot change its geometry or save back to DWG.
Which files open
CAD drawings. DWG from AutoCAD R14 through 2026 (header codes AC1014 to AC1032), and DXF in ASCII form. DWG is decoded by a WebAssembly build of LibreDWG that runs inside the page.
3D models. STL in both binary and ASCII form, OBJ, 3DS, glTF, GLB and FBX. STL and OBJ can also be converted between each other, and glTF to OBJ, without leaving the browser.

What you can do with a drawing
Show and hide individual layers, with a live entity count for each. Measure distances and polygon areas. Add arrows, boxes, circles, freehand marks and text notes on top of the drawing. Search for text inside the drawing. Cut through a 3D model with a section plane on any axis. Switch between solid, wireframe and x-ray shading, or jump to a top, front or right view. Export the current view as a PNG or PDF. Open two drawings side by side with synchronised navigation to spot revisions.
Everything listed above is free. There is no paid tier, no watermark on exports and no daily limit.
What will not render
Being straightforward about this saves you time. External references (xrefs) are not resolved, so only the host drawing appears. Proxy and custom objects created by vertical products such as Civil 3D or Advance Steel do not draw. Custom SHX fonts are substituted with a standard typeface. Complex hatch patterns appear as boundary outlines rather than filled patterns. PDF export is a raster snapshot of the viewport, so its text is not selectable. Dimension entities inside DWG files may not appear — if dimensions matter, DXF is the more reliable format.
Common questions
Is DWG Viewer Online really free?
Yes. Every feature is free, with no account, no trial and no watermark. There is no server cost to recover because your browser does all the work.
Are my drawings uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read directly from your device by your browser and never leaves it. There is no upload code anywhere on the site, which you can confirm by opening your browser's network tab while loading a drawing.
Which AutoCAD versions are supported?
DWG files from AutoCAD R14 (1997) through AutoCAD 2026 open, covering header codes AC1014, AC1015, AC1018, AC1021, AC1024, AC1027 and AC1032. See the DWG file viewer page for the full version table.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in any modern browser with WebGL. You can also install it as an app from your browser menu, after which it works offline.
Can I open a DWG file on my phone?
Yes. The viewer works in mobile browsers on Android and iOS, with touch controls for orbit, pan and pinch-to-zoom. Large drawings will be limited by your device's memory.
What is the difference between DWG and DXF?
DWG is Autodesk's native binary format. DXF is the open, text-based interchange format Autodesk publishes so other software can read the same geometry. The DWG vs DXF comparison covers this in full.
