Convert glTF to OBJ Online

Convert your glTF and GLB 3D models to OBJ format directly in your browser. No software to install, no account to create. Your files are processed locally and never leave your device.

Convert glTF/GLB to OBJ

Your file is processed entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded to any server.

How to Convert glTF to OBJ

  1. Choose your glTF/GLB file — Drop it onto the box above, or click to browse. The file is read directly from your device and never uploaded.
  2. Wait a moment — Your glTF/GLB file is parsed and rewritten as OBJ in this browser tab. Most models finish in a second or two.
  3. Save the OBJ — The converted file downloads automatically, keeping the original name with a .obj extension.
  4. Open it anywhere — The result works in Blender, MeshLab, 3ds Max, Maya and most 3D applications.

Features

Client-Side Conversion

The entire conversion happens in your browser using WebGL and Three.js. Your glTF file is parsed, rendered in 3D, and exported as OBJ. No server involved.

Supports glTF and GLB

Both the text-based glTF format and the binary GLB format are fully supported. Embedded textures and materials are rendered in the preview.

Preserves Geometry

All mesh geometry, vertices, normals, and faces from your glTF file are preserved in the OBJ output.

Works Offline

Once the page loads, the converter works entirely offline. Your files never leave your device, ensuring complete privacy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is glTF?

glTF (GL Transmission Format) is an open standard for 3D models developed by the Khronos Group. Often called the "JPEG of 3D," it is designed for efficient transmission and rendering of 3D scenes. GLB is the binary version of glTF.

Why convert glTF to OBJ?

OBJ is a widely supported 3D format compatible with virtually all 3D software. Converting glTF to OBJ improves compatibility with older applications, CAD tools, and 3D printing workflows.

Are animations preserved?

OBJ format does not support animations. When converting from glTF to OBJ, the geometry at the default pose is exported. Skeletal and keyframe animations are not included.

Are textures and materials preserved?

OBJ supports materials through MTL files. The geometry is fully preserved, though complex PBR materials from glTF may be simplified in the OBJ output.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no enforced limit. Conversion speed depends on your device. Most glTF files convert in a few seconds.
